Background
Tunesmith, tinsmith and Pilgrim are the first two novels in the Tunesmith Trilogy, to be followed later this year by Feeding the vultures. The three novels follow the life of a once-famous violinist, Jacques, who has come to live in the Scottish Borders following the death of the father he only briefly knew.
The novels are both local and international, for Jacques' investigation of his father's past leads him to the French and Spanish Pyrenees, where he finds a whole new life.
Though fictional, the novels are a tapestry of realistic detail which gradually brings together the colourful strands of Jacques' life.
Musical theme
As its title suggests, the Tunesmith Trilogy is rich in references to music, both well-known and unpublished. A large body of original music is available for film versions of the novels.
